Functions
  • Plan/Coordinate infectious disease R&D and manage performance
  • Compile, adjust, and assess the infectious disease R&D budget
  • Support infectious disease R&D
  • Supervise the management of domestic and international cooperation for infectious diseases
Goals
  • To strengthen the supervision and management of national infectious disease R&D
    • - Establish the NIID basic plan (investment plan, etc.) and plan new businesses
    • - Establish national infectious disease R&D promotion strategies and prepare implementation plans by year
  • To utilize excellent research outcomes and strengthen the cooperative system
    • - Prepare the basis for commercialization of R&D outcomes by monitoring excellent outcomes and securing the system for linked promotion between projects
    • - Establish the system for linkage and cooperation among infectious disease research institutes
    • - Prepare an international infectious disease response system by establishing an international joint study platform
Key Operations
  • Establish and implement national infectious disease R&D promotion strategies
    • - Propose the directivity for national R&D policy and investment strategies for response to emerging infectious diseases
    • - Establish implementation plans by year and implement them according to promotion strategies
  • Establish infectious disease R&D governance centering on NIID
    • - Establish an infectious disease R&D supervision and management system, such as for intergovernmental project promotion (through committee, etc.) and project team management
    • - Prepare plans for seamless linkage and cooperation without disruption and repetition
  • Promote the “Support to Overcome Infectious Diseases in Korea” project (donation)
