[Preface]
The Korea National Institute of Health (KNIH), a research organization under the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) and Ministry of Health & Welfare is devoted for promoting the public health through the research on infectious and non-infectious diseases.
Viral hemorrhagic fevers are important causes resulting in major epidemics in Africa. Ensuring global health securities to hemorrhagic fever viruses, international cooperation is the most important for the prevention human infections. In this view, rapid and accurate detection for viral hemorrhagic fevers is one of important measures to prevent and control the human infections.
For this, KNIH has been developed the Real time RT-PCR method to detect viruses causing hemorrhagic fevers from clinical specimens. It is important to check its efficacy using human specimens. Therefore, KNIH would like to conduct a cooperative research for laboratory study with two African countries (institutes) on evaluation of Realtime RT-PCR kit to viral hemorrhagic fevers including Ebola, Marburg virus.

[Details of the Project]
1. Title : Establishment of research base center in Africa through international collaborative research for
viral hemorrhagic fevers
2. Funding: Annual fund for one African country (Institute) should be about US$ 65,000 (₩ 75,000,000) per year.
The final budget will be adjusted with the results of evaluation
